Job & Mom

I'm very busy right now with the new job, but wanted to post something. Mom's test went well, and she can control her heart disease with medication and doesn't need a procedure - yet.

Started my new daytime job last week and it’s awesome. I am working for a marketing firm called Interamark writing white paper, brochures, PowerPoint stuff, etc. Tons of fun so far and it beats the he!! out of the mortgage industry!!! Not to mention I do it from the comforts of my home office.

Got an interesting offer from a NYC production company to be a historical reference/consultant. I'll know more as time goes on.

The Bailey-Trixie feud continues, but the hissing and growling have gotten less frequent. Bailey is our 3 year-old cat and Trixie is our 9 month old kitty. Bailey is not a happy camper with the newcomer!

New Job

Let's see. I've been busy changing from one job to another over the last two weeks. As I alluded to earlier, my new job is going to be very cool. It will seem strange not going to an office. He!!, I've been doing that for the last 24 years of my career. Yesterday was my last day there and I said goodbye to many people I have know for 16 years.

I've been getting things in order today for my new job with Interamark and I even have an official email address for them now! That makes it seem real and I have two calls with my new team members on Monday.

I still can't believe that I have found a job where I get paid to have fun and do what I love!!!

My mom is having a 64 slice CT scan to look for heart blockages on Monday morning. I hope all goes well.

More later...

Great news!

Okay, I've been alluding to something good about to happen and it finally did, and now I can share it. I start a new job later this month for an awesome marketing firm. I will finally get paid to be a writer! Yes, I know you're probably thinking "What about your books?" Well, I do get royalties, but I still can't quit my day job if you know what I mean.

Anyway, this is such a delight - getting paid for my talents and I get to enjoy what I do for a living. And, I also get to do it from my home office. No commute anymore, no freezing while my co-workers say, "It's hot in here."

Well, Monday will be exciting and strange. I will have to say goodbye to some people I will truly miss, but it's only 30 minutes away and I plan on having lunch with them. It's strange for me, I have been with my company for 17 years, and now I am leaving. I'm both happy and sad, well mostly happy...

Okay, tomorrow is my deadline to finish my latest manuscript about Pioneer Women in the West.

Tombstone's Treasure Arrived!

My fourth book, Tombstone's Treasure: Silver Mines & Golden Saloons arrived last week. I was at home sick with a bad head cold. There is nothing like the smell of a new book from your publisher. As I turned the pages, I could hear them crackling. It's dedicated to my dad who passed away 8 years ago, so when I saw the dedication in cold hard print, I cried. Reality has a way of hitting you when you don't expect it.

Now I have to wait for the reviews to show up. My publisher did an awesome job and they are planning some radio spots for me. Check my website once in a while and I will update it with the stations and times.

I might have found a publisher to reprint Taste of Tombstone, which is in danger of becoming extinct.

I may be able to share some good news soon...waiting is always hard, but you know the old saying - good things come...

More soon.

Yes, I'm Still Here

Wow! I can't believe it's been since January that I posted. I swore I was gonna do this often. Valentine's Day just passed - it was a nice one. I got roses and chocolate, and dinner out. Okay, dinner out was a fiasco, but the restaurant paid for the meal and drinks at the bar to try and suck up. Hard to tell if we'll go back any time soon.

Some good things might be happening, but I can't share them here just now. I'll keep you posted. The kitties are still not getting along like I had hoped...we'll keep trying.

I just got a copy of a brochure from my publisher, University of New Mexico Press, and they did an awesome job! Tombstone's Treasure should be on my doorstep soon.

It's my friend's birthday today, but we are celebrating tomorrow. We're going to an antique show, wine tasting, and who knows what else with us...

I'm getting closer to finishing my latest MS (manuscript) and that's exciting. I can't wait to start the next project - it's quite fascinating and even a little creepy!

Well, I better check on dinner and save the latest changes to my MS.
